Making a connection with your readers in one way of making money. NOT making a connection and having them click out via Adsense or whatever is another. I think most bloggers fail at both and thus make no money.

@ Rich...yeah, I have actually been a DTM forum member for a couple years but never actually spent much time there because I thought it was mainly a HYIP/surf forum. I have done a lot of things the wrong way in the past. And the wrong way has made me a lot of money. But now I am starting to wonder if doing things the right way will make for a better audience and eventually more money. At any rate, this blog is just musings, thoughts and theories I have.

Thanks for your comments.

Got you from DTM forum, but I think you also got me here. Anyway, your post is real and actually very real. I think most of us really forget the human factor, and focus on making money alone not considering that their customers are human too.

These guys don't don't realize what the term connection means, as they are used to recognize this as link (SEO term). Unfortunately, most newbies are falling on their way and I also did which gave me a negative result. Fortunately, I woke up from that nightmare and now trying to start all over again but with a very different approach - the "negative" way.

But then, I suppose IMs and money making bloggers should also realize that the connection should not be plain. It must be relevant, and not just with quality. A very sophisticated laptop that is being promoted using the very best advertising scheme will never sell to fruit stand street vendors. But if you are selling a high quality and low cost weighing scale, they will buy it. The latter is their necessity, that's why. And this is what relevant connection means.

Thanks for such an awakening post.

True that Jonathon. I think it is much easier to be told what to do and what works. It is the quirky, weird and unique stories that get the most mileage....

Your points about the importance of making a connection with your readers is very insightful and yet it's so simple that many bloggers fail to address it suitably. If you look at the really successful blogs they are almost always linked to an individual perspetive or journey that the blogger is able to communicate to the site's community.
