  1. Excellent inspirational post! I have tried to apply this approach in recent months, since I went full-time Internet Marketing, and it has yet to pay off, so I am really close to your message here – I am having to make myself “do stuff” each day. I’m having to apply “blind faith” to see me through until the results come. It’s one of the biggest tests of mental stamina and discipline that I’ve faced.

Btw. is it “…those 365 pages could be making $10+ a month each….”?

    Hey Leo,

    Great stuff as always…

Quick question… You’ve spoken of “drilling down” in regards to keyword research before. I think I know what you mean BUT wonder if you could expand on this thought a bit.

IF I understand you correctly, it means looking for longer tails that may be easier to rank for but still have decent search volume and CPC. You find these keywords by plugging in a keyword into the Google Keyword Tool and seeing what “related keywords” come up. You then do the same thing with these “related keywords” – using them as your new base keyword…AND so on AND so forth…

    Is this kind of right?

    Thanks!

    @ jeff,

That is one way….competitive intelligence is another (and the one I use more than the google keyword tool). Yanking keywords from a site is another. Using keyword scrapers is another. There are lots of ways to finding great keywords that are under the radar. But the fact is that it is very hard to do it if you are constantly in different markets. The more you know about a market and the conversations within the market, the better chances you have of finding them.

  6. I had the situation a few years ago where I introduced a friend to the world of online marketing. I have them a “behind the scenes” tour of all my traffic stats, sales, and more so they could see for the first time what results are really possible online. Their eyes nearly popped out and they asked then and there if I would help them set up an online business of their own.

Of course I agreed. I taught them keyword research and niche investigation. They spent weeks trawling for ideas until they came up with one we were both happy with.

Then they did precisely nothing. For months. There was always an excuse. Then they got laid off their job.

I’m certain that if they had knuckled down, by the time they got laid off, they would have a profitable online business and there wouldn’t have been any stress. As it was, they *didn’t* have a business and being laid off turned into one of the most stressful situations I have seen.

All because of an excuse for not taking action.

  7. Sooo true… That reminds me to to re-read your blog when you talked about focus and being organized. I think you should market that “system” :)
Just found about the news letter. When did it start? Subscribed!

  8. Hard work pays off, if you stick to it. yep -> thanks for the inspiration. In the day to day grind, while you wait and work for the payoff, it is soooo easy to get distracted and accomplish nothing. So make achievable goals, like the ones you mention here, and then, as you say – stick with them! Thanks for the continuing inspiration all your posts on this site have brought me!
