How to get traffic from other sites…it doesn’t get any easier than this.
Getting backlinks is not that hard. Getting traffic …the non-organic variety that is, can be a bit more challenging. The option? Grab link power by commenting on sites that use the top commentators plug-in.
The idea behind top commentator is that if a webmaster rewards their commentators with a prize, then more people will comment. I know, it is kind of self serving but it works and there is nothing better than user generated content because you don’t have to do anything to get it and the search engines will crawl your site more frequently because your pages will constantly be changing.
This won’t work so well with building backlinks because in most cases, the links are “no-follow”. However, if you are into the social traffic variety, you can always use this to leech traffic from other sites. Of course, what you do with that traffic is completely up to you.

- You find a site with top commentators plug-in.
- You start commenting.
- If you comment enough, you will be put on the top commentator’s list.
In most cases, this is site-wide, meaning that their visitors could potentially click to your site. And in the case of sites like shoemoney, this could be a ton of visitors.
Like I said, what you do with the traffic is another issue altogether. You may use it to learn how to make extra money on the side.Personally, I have found social traffic to be problematic to say the least when it comes to monetizing it. I think this is partially due to the fact that most of your traffic comes from the “smart” internet users that know about blogs and what not. (kind of like digg users).
Still, if you are trying to build a list, this option could very easily get you started.
Of course, nothing beats getting ranked organically. Then again, you would need a few more skills to add to your repertoire, like SEO. (check out my SEO for beginners if you don’t have a clue)
