Hi Leo, thanks for this post, really enjoyed reading it. Trust Rank really does play a part in the whole optimization process…especially if you are in a competitive niche.

I have no intelligent insights (yet), just want to thank you for all your articles. For the past month I've been reading Court and Griz and Vic, and now I found your site. It's all excellent, I'm really excited, but I am a beginner and getting a bit overwhelmed now. I've created a couple of sites and blogs, but there is so much to do, so little time!!! Hubs, lenses, now I think I need Bookmarking Demon too.

I do....But just to not turn this into a blackhat internet marketing site do a search on the blackhatworld forum...you will find what you are looking for.

The problems that you will face using these link building tools is that you will need to insulate your white hat sites from it. In other words buffer it two and three links deep and build up the trust and page rank of the links linking to you.

Most internet marketers are snoopers but few rarely go further than one site deep in their research.

Thanks Reub. Glad you managed to make it through one of my rants. It is absolutely amazing what you can do with trusted domains that you would otherwise have to wait it out on your own domain. Trust Rank really does play a part in the whole optimization process...especially if you are in a competitive niche.

I loved reading this post. I've also started following "buy viagra" types of keywords to see what the bad boys are doing. Most of their backlinks come from guestbook spam, or maybe xrumer? Do you know of any popular en-masse link building tools from the blackhat world? Any recommendations?

Nice one, Leo. You give a lot of value in these posts. My gears are turning now, so I'll be mulling this over for a little while. I mean, hey - I've got Squidoo lenses. But I might not be using them properly at the moment.

Funny isn't it? When in Rome, Alex....that is all I really have to say about that. My point of this whole spill wasn't to try to rank for competitive words. It is to focus your efforts on obvious buy words and use the same tools that the blackhat marketers are using to do it.

For instance, let's say you are selling vacuum cleaners and happen to affiliate with Target and other sites that sell vacuums. What if you were to build a series of Squidoo lens that was product specific that would funnel to the seller first?

Then, Created funnels via forums and trusted social platforms that pointed to your squidoo lens....

The only missing ingredient would be link popularity. Because you are using trusted websites, you could, at least in theory, rank fairly quickly for them just by throwing junk links en masse.

The result would be that you could be ranking for these long tails in several instances on the front page. You won't get a lot of traffic but the traffic would be so targeted that you would have to believe that you would make money.

Of course, you don't necessarily have to do this. Some people would view this as just a big problem on the internet and wouldn't want to contribute to the problem. But it is still nice to have a clue as to what others are doing to make money online and it beats the typical vanilla posts that most online marketers like to make.

The big problem that someone may run into using a strategy like this would be that their competitors may get disgruntled and report it to google. Then again, there is nothing really at risk, provided you aren't pointing the sites to your regular sites.
